Obstacle #2 – Tip Test

This objective of this obstacle is that the operator must tip the blade up to hit the cowbell. There are three distance cones that prevent the grader to position too close to cowbell with stand. No points will be awarded if the operator touches a distance cone or misses the cowbell.

Total points possible 350 points

Obstacle #8 – Alley Dock

The alley dock tests the operator’s ability to back the grader into a confined space. The operator must back into the space without hitting the sides and must stop as close to the back of the barricade as possible without hitting it.

In addition to not hitting any of the barricades in the alley dock, it is the operator’s responsibility to sound the horn. When the horn sounds, the judge will measure the distance from the rear hitch to the back of the barricade. This will also signal the time keeper that the operator has completed the course. If the operator forgets to sound the horn, the judge will not be able to accurately measure the distance in the alley dock and the course time will continue.

Total points possible 250 points

Within 13"-18" of rear barricade

Motor Grader Course Time

Total elapsed course time will be recorded. Course completion time will be multiplied by the factor listed in the table below. For example, an operator completing the course in less than four minutes will receive 100% of the total points earned. An operator finishing the course time in 6 minutes and 25 seconds will receive 90% of their total points earned. Operators finishing the course in 9 minutes or greater will be disqualified.
